Step into a lush botanical retreat inspired by Arthur Lasenby Liberty’s own Japanese garden—a haven filled with exotic plants gathered from travels around the globe. In the 1890s, Arthur and his wife Emma purchased Lee Manor in the historic English countryside of Buckinghamshire. There, they curated an extraordinary collection of art and objects from their journeys, with one trip to Japan in 1889 leaving a lasting impression. Captivated by the country’s unmatched craftsmanship, artistic heritage, and natural beauty, Arthur recreated a Japanese garden at home—complete with a lily pond, bamboo groves, and serene zen rocks.
Liberty Fabrics’ designers have channeled the magic of Arthur’s garden into a collection that bursts with life: imagine bloom-laden trellises, cascading blossoms, and ancient ginkgo trees. Stroll among chrysanthemums, admire dahlias in full bloom, and follow waterfalls winding past cherry trees in blossom. Arthur’s garden was a place of peace and wonder—and now, it’s yours to explore.
Each design in this collection is meticulously hand-painted in the Liberty studio in the heart of London, then expertly screen-printed in Liberty’s Italian mill onto soft Lasenby cotton—crafted specifically for quilting and craft projects.
